Our privacy-compliant intelligence network expands visibility beyond systems, empowering real-time, proactive defense.Launched in 2024, headquartered in Madrid with colleagues working throughout Europe, LATAM, and the US.THE ROLE:As a Data Scientist – Fraud Detection at Acoru, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling the analytical and machine learning capabilities that power our proactive fraud prevention platform.This is a high-impact, hands-on position for someone who thrives in complex, data-driven environments, enjoys deep investigation, and can translate technical breakthroughs into product value for our customers.You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams to develop models and signals that detect fraud BEFORE transactions happen, leveraging high-volume, real-time account and movement data.WHAT YOU'LL DO:Customer Data Analysis & Signal GenerationAnalyze customer datasets to understand behavior, risk patterns, and platform gapsGenerate relevant datasets for modeling and experimentationClean, validate, and enrich data to production-grade qualityPerform feature engineering, creating robust fraud-representative variablesDefine and iterate on pre-fraud signals that generalize across channels and customersGraph & Advanced ML ResearchApply graph analysis to detect suspicious communities and mule networksResearch and prototype advanced fraud detection methodsEmbeddings for movements and accountsTransformer-based models for sequence analysisIsolation Forest and clustering-based anomaly modelsEvaluate fraud-detection research papers and translate into production solutionsExplore federated learning for privacy-compliant cross-customer model trainingCollaboration & EnablementCollaborate with Product and Tech teams to establish standards for model interpretabilityContribute to AI Studio evolution and experimentation workflowsSpecify operational requirements for data + feature engineeringCommunicate results clearly to customersWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:5+ years of professional experience in Data Science / ML applied to fraud, risk, or anomaly detectionStrong applied skills in: Data cleaning, EDA, and large-scale dataset generation - Feature engineering and signal discovery - Supervised multi-class classification and unsupervised anomaly detectionProven experience with: Graph analytics and community detection - Time-series modeling and embeddings - Deep learning or transformer architecturesAbility to reproduce and adapt research papers into production solutionsExcellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholdersFluent in Spanish & EnglishWHY JOIN ACORU:Build the fraud intelligence and ML backbone of a growing fraud prevention companyWork on technically challenging problems at scale, with global impactJoin a tight-knit, ambitious team that values ownership and velocityRemote-first culture with flexibility and autonomyCompetitive compensation and benefitsLOCATION: Remote (EU time zones preferred) REPORTS TO: Chief Technology Officer
