Job Title: Data Engineer (Contract) Contract Length:6 months Location:Fully Remote (within Spain only) Eligibility:Must be an EU Citizen and have an active Limited companyRole Overview: My client is seeking an experiencedData Engineerto support key data initiatives on an initial6-month contract. The role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines and ensuring high standards of data quality, governance, and interoperability. You will work in a modern, cloud-based environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions that support critical business and scientific use cases. This role is fully remote, provided you are based in Spain.Data Engineering Design, develop, and maintain scalableETL pipelines using Python Work extensively withJSON and JSON Schemato ensure structured, consistent data Implement and maintaindata validation frameworksto enforce data quality standards Orchestrate and manage workflows usingApache Airflow, Prefect, or similar tools Manageschema registries, including schema versioning and controlled evolution Align datasets withcontrolled vocabularies and ontologiesto ensure semantic consistency Utilizecloud-based data servicesfor scalable data processing and storage Implement and maintainCI/CD pipelinesfor data engineering workflows Develop and supportautomated testing and monitoringto ensure data reliability and performance Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and governance standardsRequired Skills & Experience Strong experience inData Engineering, particularly Python-based ETL development Solid understanding ofJSON, JSON Schema, and data modeling principles Hands-on experience withworkflow orchestration tools(Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent) Experience implementingdata validation, testing, and monitoring frameworks Familiarity withschema registry toolsand schema versioning practices Experience working withcloud data platforms and services Strong understanding ofCI/CD principlesapplied to data pipelines Ability to work independently in afully remoteenvironment EU citizenshipand current residence in Spain (mandatory)Nice to Have Experience withcontrolled vocabularies, ontology alignment, or semantic data modeling Exposure tometadata management platforms or data catalogs Previous experience inlife sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries
