The Data Migration Lead is responsible for driving the end-to-end data migration cross-functional workstream for Brenntag’s global ERP transformation. This role ensures that all master and transactional data is accurately extracted, cleansed, transformed, validated and migrated from (non-SAP and SAP) legacy systems into the new global S/4 HANA based ERP environment. The Data Migration Lead works closely with global and local business stakeholders, functional consultants, technical teams, system integrators and project leadership to deliver high-quality, timely and secure data migration cycles.
Your Role
Cross Functional Leadership
Lead a cross-functional team of business data owners, data analysts, system integrators and functional consultants.
Coordinate across business domains (Commercial, Supply Chain and Finance) to validate data requirements and mapping rules.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the data migration workstream.
Data Migration Strategy & Planning
Further develop and maintain the program’s data migration strategy, roadmap and standards incl. Tool Chain.
Define data objects, migration scope, dependencies, sequencing and cutover requirements.
Establish governance models, quality criteria, KPIs and readiness checkpoints.
End-to-End Data Migration Management
Oversee extraction, profiling, cleansing, enrichment, mapping, transformation and loading activities.
Guide the creation of data mapping documents, migration templates and validation rules.
Ensure data readiness across (non-SAP and SAP) legacy systems and align with functional design decisions.
Manage defect resolution for mock loads and cutover cycles.
Tools, Technology & Quality Assurance
Work with ETL and data migration tools (e.g. SAP Data Services)
Implement automated and manual data validation processes.
Monitor data quality, identify data issues and coordinate corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with data governance, security and regulatory requirements (GDPR, SOX, audit controls)
Cutover & Go-Live Execution
Lead data migration activities during mock conversions, rehearsals, and production cutover.
Manage load sequencing, dependencies, error handling, and reconciliation.
Support post-go-live stabilization and hypercare data issue resolution.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
Communicate progress, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to program leadership.
Prepare executive-level dashboards and updates.
Maintain strong working relationships with business stakeholders, system integrators and external vendors.
Your Profile
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Data Management or other-related industry experience.
7+ years of professional experience in data migration for ERP projects
Proven experience leading the data migration in at least one full-cycle ERP transformation.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of data migration methods, ETL processes, and validation techniques.
Understanding of master data, transactional data, and integration between ERP modules.
Hands-on experience with data profiling, cleansing, and transformation tools.
Proficiency with SQL and data analysis.
Soft Skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage diverse teams.
Strong Analytical, Problem-Solving, and Decision-Making Abilities
High attention to detail and quality.
