We take pride in being an engineering authority with a strategic global presence, dedicated to meeting the unique needs of our clients.Join us for a unique experience where we value autonomy, giving our employees responsibility and ownership in their areas of expertise.The Opportunity:This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Tests Engineer – High Voltage to develop hands‑on expertise in electrical testing, diagnostics and condition monitoring of large rotating machines, including power plant generators and high‑voltage motorsYou will work on major industrial generators across Spain and Europe, gaining practical experience with advanced electrical testing and diagnostic technologies such as partial discharge measurement and generator condition monitoring systems.The work is predominantly site‑based and includes participation in generator outages and inspections, working closely with experienced electrical and mechanical engineering teams.This position is ideal for someone looking to build specialist skills in generator diagnostics within a growing European engineering services organisation.Key Responsibilities:As an Electrical Tests Engineer, you will play a critical role within our Quartzelec Spain team. Your responsibilities will include:Perform electrical diagnostic testing on large rotating machines, including generators and high voltage motorsCarry out a range of electrical tests, including:Insulation Resistance (IR) and Polarization Index (PI)Winding resistanceHigh voltage testingCapacitance and Tan Delta testingPartial discharge testingSurge comparison / RSO testingInstall, calibrate and commission generator condition monitoring systems (including partial discharge, flux and shaft voltage systems)Support electrical diagnostic activities during generator inspections and outage periodsCollect, record and document testing data during site activities, including equipment calibration and commissioningEnsure all technical information and site records are accurately completedProvide testing data and site information to the engineering team to support technical report preparationEnsure all testing activities comply with company procedures, industry standards and safety requirementsMaintain safe operation of electrical testing equipment and site toolsFollow company Health & Safety procedures and all site safety rules at all timesWork independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering teamCommunicate professionally with client representatives during site activities when requiredOccasionally assist mechanical teams during generator mechanical works (when required) Your skills and experiences:Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)Proven experience in electrical testing of industrial equipment (essential)Experience with high‑voltage testing equipment (desirable)Knowledge of generators or large rotating machines (advantageous)Experience working in power plants, heavy industry or rotating machinery maintenance environments (beneficial)Strong interest in developing skills in generator diagnostics and condition monitoringWillingness to support mechanical site activities when requiredSpanish language skills required; basic English for communication with international teamsWillingness to travel and work on site across Spain and EuropeFull driving licenceStrong commitment to personal and site safetyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamHands‑on, practical approach to engineering workWhy Quartzelec?At Quartzelec, we are proud to invest in developing future talent, demonstrated by our active support of more than 100 apprentices across the business.
