IT Technician for Network and Operations Team
Join the IT Technician for Network and Operations Team role at Teacher of Arts (High school) Philosophy of the Arts (HKU).
Role
The appointee will be responsible for monitoring central IT systems and campus network operations to ensure safe operation and normal services; coordinating network infrastructure installations, cabling, and IT closet setups; monitoring backup job status, carrying out production change releases and other scheduled operational tasks; generating system performance reports; managing equipment life‑cycle and inventory; answering user enquiries; and tracking and escalating incidents. This position may require shifts including weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications and Qualities
Applicants should possess a higher diploma in Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline, and at least one year of post‑qualification experience in data centre and enterprise IT systems/network infrastructure operations.
Skills
Applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills; and proven ability to execute multiple operational jobs independently and within a team. They should also have solid knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas:

Installation of IT closets and infrastructure network cabling
Cooling, electricity supply distribution, protection, fire and other physical/environmental risk protection for IT closets and data centres
UPS installation and operations
LAN/WiFi/WAN technologies
Network equipment configuration and installation
Data centre equipment/systems troubleshooting methods and techniques
Data centre management and monitoring systems

Preferred Qualifications

Registered Grade A electrical worker
Hot/cold aisle design and planning of data rack installation
EMSD policy, building code regulations and rules knowledge
Safety protocols and regulations knowledge

What We Offer
The appointment will be on a fixed‑term full‑time contract for 2 years, commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal on satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract‑end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
