Some of our local brands have been in consumers' kitchens for over a century and have positioned themselves as authentically loved brands, as well as deeply rooted parts of the local culture.
We are seeking a highly skilled Development Scientist to design and develop innovative flavouring ingredients for internal use across Africa GBfoods' product portfolio. Develop new savoury umami flavouring ingredients using different technologies like vegetable protein hydrolyses, thermal processing (maillard reactions) or biotechnology techniques like fermentation.
Conduct lab and pilot trials to validate ingredient performance, stability and cost-efficiency.
Perform sensory analysis and flavour profiling to ensure ingredient quality and consistency.
Ensure all developed ingredients comply with food safety regulations and internal quality standards.
Master's or PhD in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field.
5+ years in flavour creation or ingredient development within savoury food companies or flavour houses.
Strong understanding of flavour chemistry and sensory science.
Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Familiarity with food ingredients in global markets with special knowhow on Africa markets and culinary habits.
