Project Manager Consultant - Electrical Engineering
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (PMC) for a steel making project. The role focuses on project management, technical assurance, and coordination between stakeholders across all electrical systems. The successful candidate will work closely with EPC/EPCM partners, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, timely, and compliant project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering oversight for LV/MV power distribution, substations, MCCs, drives, automation interfaces, grounding, and plant utilities.
Review and approve design documents, single‑line diagrams, load lists, cable schedules, protection philosophies, and vendor data.
Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE), project specifications, and steel‑industry requirements.
Coordinate with EPC/EPCM contractors on engineering deliverables, design changes, and technical clarifications.
Lead and manage 3D model coordination across all electrical systems, ensuring alignment between OEM models, EPC/EPCM engineering teams, and civil/mechanical/automation disciplines.
Monitor progress of electrical engineering, procurement, FATs, SATs, and construction activities.
Support procurement by reviewing technical bids, evaluating vendor proposals, and participating in technical negotiations.
Provide site supervision during installation, testing, commissioning, and energization of electrical equipment.
Ensure strict adherence to HSE requirements, electrical safety rules, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews, and interface management with mechanical, civil, and automation teams.
Prepare progress reports, and technical recommendations for project leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Experience in heavy industry projects (steelmaking, metals, mining, or large industrial plants).
Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems, protection relays, transformers, motors, VFDs, UPS, earthing, and power quality.
Experience working in PMC, EPC, or EPCM environments.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and vendor documentation.
Strong communication and stakeholder‑coordination skills.
Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office.
Preferred Experience
Previous involvement in steelmaking, melt shop, rolling mill, or industrial furnace projects.
Experience with SCADA/DCS interfaces, industrial automation, and instrumentation.
Knowledge of EMC/EMF regulations, and European electrical standards
Multidisciplinary coordination in international project environments.

Responsibilities

Define and optimize the main PV subsystems: PV modules and strings configuration, DC electrical design, Inverters and power stations, AC collection systems, Medium Voltage design and plant layout.
Support integration with grid connection and HV interfaces (engineering coordination).
Energy Yield & Performance
Perform energy yield assessments and performance simulations using industry‑standard tools.
Analyze system losses, availability and performance ratios.
Support optimization of plant design to improve LCOE and technical KPIs.
Validate assumptions for technical and economic models.
Engineering Tools & Software
Develop and review models using: PVsyst, System Advisor Model (SAM), Matlab, TRNSYS, Excel‑based engineering models, AutoCAD (layout support).
Manage and interpret large datasets for technical decision‑making.
Technical Documentation
Prepare and review: Technical specifications, Design criteria, Technical assumptions for offers and tenders, Inputs for EPC contracts and technical annexes.
Support technical documentation for lenders, owners’ engineers and internal approvals.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Coordinate with: Civil and mechanical engineering disciplines, Grid / HV engineering teams, Construction and commissioning teams (design support).
Provide technical clarification during EPC execution when required.
Qualifications
Degree in Energy Engineering, Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Industrial Engineering, or similar.
Minimum of 4 years in technical offices within the renewable energy sector (mandatory experience in large‑scale photovoltaic projects exceeding 50 MW with solar tracking systems)
