EUSKORPORA, the Linguistic Data Center for Basque Digital Technologies, a new association based in Donostia/San Sebastián, is seeking a senior expert in AI technologies applied to natural language processing, with experience, to lead key tasks related to language technologies applied to the Basque language.The selected person will be part of an interdisciplinary team and will participate in projects involving the collection, analysis, and annotation of linguistic data, as well as the development of open-source foundational language models (ASR, TTS, MT, NLP) oriented to Basque, in a research and development context closely connected to industry.Main Responsibilities:Supervise and optimize processes for linguistic corpus collection, annotation, and management.Lead the design and development of foundational language models applied to Basque (speech recognition and synthesis, translation, text processing, etc.).Contribute to the design and future evolution of the center’s technological architecture.Ensure the technical and methodological quality of the developments. Coordinate internal and external teams and mentor junior technical staff.Identify opportunities for technological innovation and new lines of work. Collaborate on proposals, technical reports, documentation, and dissemination of results.Build strategic relationships with key ecosystem stakeholders (academia, industry, tech centers).Requirements:Advanced university degree (Bachelor + Master or PhD) in Computational Linguistics, NLP, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.At least 5 years of experience in language technologies or AI-for-language projects.Proven involvement in the development of ASR, TTS, MT or NLP models.Experience in applied research or advanced technological development environments.Technical Knowledge:Advanced Python programming.Professional use of libraries and frameworks like Hugging Face, PyTorch, TensorFlow, spaCy, Kaldi, ESPnet, Fairseq, etc.Experience with language processing pipelines and corpus management.Knowledge of MLOps, version control (Git), and best practices in reproducible data science.Familiarity with open data repositories and licenses (Creative Commons, etc.).Languages:Basque: desirable, intermediate level (B2 or higher)Spanish: fluentEnglish: high level (especially technical)Additional Valued Experience:Experience leading technical projects and coordinating teams.Updated knowledge of the open-source NLP ecosystem.Participation in scientific publications or conferences.Communication, synthesis, and strategic thinking skills.Connection to European or international language technology research networks.We Offer:Integration into a newly created, dynamic and innovative Center with a clear mission: positioning the Basque language in the global digital sphere.Participation in strategic projects with scientific, technological and cultural impact.High-level interdisciplinary and collaborative work environment.
