We’re working with an early-stage AI startup building technology to simplify and automate the administrative and regulatory side of clinical trials. Their platform helps research institutions, biotech companies, and CROs focus on science while AI handles complex documentation and compliance processes.The company already has a live product and early traction, and is now looking for an AI Engineer to help shape the next stage of the platform.This is a high-impact role in a small, fast-moving team, where engineers have real ownership over architecture, product direction, and the intelligence behind the platform. If you enjoy building systems from scratch, solving meaningful problems, and working closely with founders in a start-up environment, this could be a great fit.The role You’ll be responsible for designing and building AI-powered systems that automate, analyse, and improve clinical trial documentation.Responsibilities include: Building LLM-powered systems, including RAG pipelines and agentic workflows Developing backend services using Python (FastAPI) and Node.js Designing scalable APIs in collaboration with front-end engineers Deploying ML applications using Docker and cloud infrastructure (AWS) Contributing to core architecture and technical direction Working closely with product and design to translate real-world workflows into AI solutionsWhat they’re looking for Strong experience in AI / Machine Learning Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, HuggingFace, Torch, or similar frameworks Hands-on experience building RAG-based applications Strong Python engineering experience Experience deploying ML systems with Docker and cloud platforms (AWS) Understanding of security and compliance in data-sensitive environmentsNice to have Familiarity with TypeScript / React / Next.js Experience with vector or graph databases Knowledge of OAuth2 or secure authentication systems Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated environments Previous early-stage startup experienceStart-up mindset required Thrive in fast-paced, early-stage companies Take ownership of problems and solutions Are comfortable with ambiguity and evolving requirements Enjoy building things from scratch Want their work to have direct impact on the product and companyWhat’s on offer Equity in an early-stage startup Real ownership over product and architecture Mission-driven work helping accelerate medical innovation Flexible hybrid working (London or Barcelona) A high-trust, low-bureaucracy engineering culture
