The Global Services team is looking for exceptional individuals to join our Controls team as Controls Engineer, responsible for the building automation systems within Amazon. If you are passionate about the Customer Experience, think and act globally, and have the ability to contribute to major new innovations in building controls and automation, this is the challenge you are looking for.
Our Controls Engineers possess a construction management, mechanical, electrical, or technology background that enables them to undertake the challenges of sophisticated controls platforms and demonstrates the ability to think broadly and strategically in aligning building controls and automation with the larger objectives of the business.
Responsibilities
Understanding of electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, and control circuits in industrial HVAC.
Ascertain customer needs to help develop scope and specifications.
Manage scope of work relative to site specifics and customer needs.
Manage engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of customer needs.
Read and interpret specifications and implement those specifications in the work environment.
Develop control panel BOMs.
Develop ISA sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters and for control valves, positioners, analytical instruments, and other instrumentation.
Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, and junction boxes, including general arrangement, internal layout, schematics, interconnection and wire diagrams.
Develop logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as PLCs and Distributed Control Systems.
Prepare cable routing plans and schedules.
Perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of facility systems.
Work independently and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, and test and evaluate equipment.
Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
Coordinate work internally within the department and with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
Manage service contracts with various vendors.
Must be business proficient in the English language.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Experience in vendor management
Experience in a data center or other critical environment
Experience in data center engineering or operations
Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience coordinating between project teams and customers to meet unique customer requirements
Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS controls system software or hardware
Preferred Qualifications
Experience reviewing and understanding engineering design documents for electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical parts and assembly drawings of products
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, or asset management
Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to drive improvements
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
