The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a field-based expert responsible for delivering exceptional post-sale support to customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively. In this role, the FAE oversees the successful installation, adoption, and optimization of Cepheid’s GeneXpert systems within clinical laboratories across the region.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre-installation site assessments, install instruments, configure software and connectivity, and provide ongoing support to customers during the evaluation stage. Continue to assist after product launch and on assay conversion, implement any necessary hardware or software updates, including connectivity enhancements.
Monitor sites and deliver training on system operation, software, reagents and connectivity.
Carry out reactive repairs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, deinstallations, and relocations in a timely, productive, and cost‑effective manner. Interpret customers’ needs and take responsibility for resolving issues, coordinating with other functions and liaising with the customer on both administrative and technical matters. Manage spare parts, including stock levels and inventory for car stock and other required components.
Qualifications
Diploma and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Biology, Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Diagnostic industry an advantage.
2-3 years’ experience in health care / biomedical / handling Medical Devices or experience working with laboratory customers in the region and Knowledge of diagnostic market.
Fluent in the local language of the region, with a strong command of English. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered an advantage.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
Ability to travel and spend around 80% on the field.
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 27 kg.
Additional Skills
Technical support and training experience in reagent and instrumentation for Clinical Diagnostics.
Experience with customer base within territory.
