We are now seeking a Global Head – HSSE, primarily based in Barcelona, Spain, although other European locations where Noatum Logistics has established operations may be considered, to join our global leadership team and shape the HSSE vision that will safeguard our people, protect our operations and elevate our standards worldwide.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO – Noatum Logistics, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and governing a unified global HSSE strategy that ensures the safety of our people, the security of our assets and cargo, and the protection of the environment across all our operations.
You will provide strategic leadership to embed a culture of zero harm, operational integrity and sustainability across our regional and product structures, and act as a key advisor to the CEO and Executive Management Team on HSSE risk management, compliance and performance excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Develop and execute a global HSSE strategy and governance framework aligned with corporate objectives and international best practices.
Define and continuously refine global HSSE policies, standards and KPIs, ensuring consistency across all regions and product lines.
Advise the CEO and Executive Leadership on HSSE risks, performance and emerging global regulatory trends.
Ensure HSSE principles are fully integrated into operational strategy, investment decisions and asset management.
Maintain strong alignment with Group HSSE & Business Continuity, ensuring corporate governance and reporting frameworks are implemented globally.
Oversee global HSSE risk management, including risk assessments integrated into business planning and capital investments.
Lead global emergency preparedness, business continuity and resilience programs.
Health & Safety Management
Implement and maintain a robust health and safety management system (aligned with ISO 45001 and similar standards) across warehouses, transport operations and project sites.
Oversee risk assessments, hazard identification and control programs for asset‑heavy logistics environments (heavy equipment, vehicle movements, manual handling).
Drive initiatives to achieve a zero-incident, injury-free workplace, promoting proactive safety behaviours and accountability.
Oversee global training, competency and certification programs for operational staff (e.g. forklift operators, truck drivers, warehouse handlers).
Lead investigations into serious incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and systemic corrective actions.
Leverage digital tools and analytics to monitor HSSE performance and drive continuous improvement globally.
Security Management
Develop and implement a global security framework covering facilities, transport corridors, cargo protection and personnel safety.
Ensure compliance with international standards and protocols such as ISPS, TAPA, AEO and C‑TPAT.
Establish and maintain crisis management and business continuity frameworks to respond to emergencies, theft and geopolitical risks.
Collaborate with local and international authorities, law enforcement and insurance partners to mitigate security risks.
Environmental Management & Sustainability
Lead global efforts to minimise the environmental footprint of logistics operations, including fuel and energy efficiency, emissions reduction, waste management and resource conservation.
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and relevant environmental regulations across all regions.
Partner with Group Sustainability to drive carbon reduction initiatives (e.g. green warehousing, fleet electrification, route optimisation).
Oversee environmental impact assessments for new facilities and major projects.
Collaborate with Sustainability and ESG teams to align HSSE initiatives with corporate ESG objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Compliance, Auditing & Reporting
Establish a global HSSE compliance monitoring and audit program, ensuring adherence to local and international laws and company standards.
Track and analyse HSSE performance data, providing regular reports and dashboards to executive management and regional leadership.
Oversee incident recording and regulatory reporting where required.
Represent Noatum Logistics in audits, regulatory engagements and industry safety forums.
Ensure contractors and third‑party logistics providers comply with Group HSSE standards through audits and performance monitoring.
Monitor emerging HSSE regulations, industry trends and best practices to proactively adapt policies and ensure global compliance.
Drive achievement of global HSSE targets, aligning with corporate KPIs and embedding HSSE performance into leadership evaluations.
Leadership & Capability Development
Build, lead and mentor a global HSSE organization, including Regional HSSE Heads and product‑specific safety leads.
Foster a collaborative network across regions to share best practices, innovations and lessons learned.
Champion a “Safety First” culture through leadership engagement, communication campaigns and recognition programs.
Embed HSSE competencies into leadership training, performance appraisals and operational KPIs.

What We Are Looking For
15+ years of progressive experience in HSSE, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a global or multi‑regional logistics, shipping or industrial organization.
Proven experience in asset‑heavy environments (warehousing, transport, industrial logistics or similar).
In‑depth knowledge of ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
Strong track record of implementing HSSE management systems, leading cultural transformation and incident prevention programs.
Experience in crisis management, emergency response and security risk mitigation.
Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills in diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
