OverviewWHO ARE WE? Sateliot is a Barcelona-based startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite telecommunications operator that will provide global and continuous connectivity to all elements of the IoT universe under the 5G protocol. Sateliot is launching a constellation of last generation nanosatellites located at low altitude that act as mobile towers. Sateliot is the perfect complement for large telecommunications companies by providing the infrastructure where terrestrial technologies do not arrive.YOUR MISSION We are seeking a Test Hardware Engineer to develop, implement, and execute test solutions for complex digital, RF, and analogue hardware, with a particular focus on satellite payload systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing test strategies, developing automated test software, commanding embedded processors, acquiring and analysing data, and producing high-quality test documentation. This role requires a strong blend of hands-on hardware knowledge and software development skills, as well as experience testing high-reliability electronic systems.
Your Main Functions
Test Development & Execution
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for digital, RF, and analogue hardware, including satellite payload subsystems
Design and implement automated and semi-automated test algorithms to validate performance, functionality, and reliability
Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing of hardware assemblies
Debug and diagnose hardware and firmware issues using test equipment and software tools
Software & Automation
Develop test software in Python and C++ to control test equipment, command hardware, and process measurement data
Implement interfaces to command microprocessors and embedded systems (e.g. via UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, SpaceWire, or similar)
Acquire, log, and analyse data read back from microcontrollers and processors
Maintain and improve existing test frameworks and codebases
Hardware Interaction
Work hands-on with digital, RF, and analogue electronics
Configure and operate laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, signal generators, network analysers, power supplies, and logic analysers
Support hardware bring-up and fault isolation activities
Documentation & Reporting
Author detailed test plans, procedures, and reports in line with engineering and quality standards
Document test coverage, results, anomalies, and corrective actions
Support design reviews by providing test evidence and technical input
Collaboration
Work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to define test requirements and acceptance criteria
Support environmental and qualification testing activities for space hardware (where applicable)
Requirements
Strong experience of automating testing digital, RF, and analogue hardware
Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis
Working knowledge of C++ for test software or embedded interaction
Solid understanding of electronic hardware fundamentals (schematics, datasheets, signal integrity, power systems)
Experience commanding microprocessors or microcontrollers and reading data from them
Ability to design, write and execute test plans for complex electronic systems
Experience coding and executing test algorithms
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Experience testing satellite payload hardware or other high-reliability systems
Familiarity with RF measurements and characterisation techniques
Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware interfaces, and low-level communications
Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
Exposure to space, aerospace, or regulated engineering environments
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
