Overview
Lead the purchasing of mechanical components in a leading robotics and automation company. AI INTELLIGENT ROBOTS is an innovative company in the robotics and artificial intelligence sector seeking a talented Lead Buyer to join the team. The role requires extensive experience in technical procurement, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Convert technical drawings and BOMs into detailed purchase requisitions (PR) and purchase orders (PO) according to project needs.
Manage daily communication with mechanical suppliers, ensuring timely confirmation of orders, manufacturing progress, and delivery confirmations.
Review and validate supplier quotations, ensuring technical compliance and alignment with 2D/3D design documentation.
Coordinate with Engineering for design modifications or technical deviations, updating instructions and supplier documentation accordingly.
Oversee first article inspections (FAI) and ensure dimensional, surface, and material conformity before series deliveries.
Support incoming quality control processes, address non-conformities, and lead supplier corrective actions.
Maintain all supplier and order data in SAP R3 (MM) module, ensuring complete traceability of manufacturing purchase orders.
Collaborate with Finance for invoice validation, cost recording, and payment tracking.
Monitor and report project purchase milestones, highlighting potential risks, delays, or cost deviations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical background.
5 years of experience in mechanical procurement or industrial sourcing within automation, machinery, or automotive industries.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, surface finishing, assembly).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (2D/3D) and technical documentation.
Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (preferably SAP R3/MM-PUR) and analysis tools (Excel, Power BI).
Fluent English (C1 or above), both written and spoken.
Availability to visit suppliers and manufacturing facilities, both nationally and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and supplier quality systems (PPAP, NCR, corrective actions).
Experience in international sourcing (Europe, Mexico, Asia).
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
