OverviewThe Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to work in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Unit of the Reaction Technologies Department. ICIQ is committed to excellent research at the frontier of knowledge in chemistry (Catalysis, Artificial Photosynthesis, Activation of Small Molecules, Photovoltaics, Functional Molecular Assemblies and Chemical Biology). The institute also aims to train the next generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programmes to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. The candidate will work in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Unit, which provides researchers with access to a wide range of NMR experiments and supervises usage and optimization of instrumental resources.Services offered from the NMR Unit include training researchers, advising on appropriate experiments, and supporting researchers in using NMR to obtain information and optimize resources.ResponsibilitiesChecking possible new developments/experiments/improvementsCryoprobe maintenance. Coordination with the cryoprobe supplierDaily check of instruments performance. Spectral qualityDetecting and managing formative needsDetecting and managing instrument malfunctionsProcessing and checking orders from suppliersHelping usersManaging audits from internal/external sourcesManaging access permits for new usersMonthly check of instruments performance. ShimmingNew users trainingNMR equipment maintenance. Retiring measured samples and restartingNMR equipment maintenance. Liquid helium refillingNMR equipment maintenance. Liquid nitrogen refillingParticipating in talks, webinars, meetingsPeriodic check of instruments performance. PulsesPeriodic check of safety proceduresPreparing and running experiments for users outside of the ICIQRunning experiments requested by usersAll these tasks are carried out under the supervision of the unit manager or, where applicable, the immediate supervisorCandidate’s Profile / QualificationsChemistry degreeAdvanced level of English, written and spokenKnowledge of informatics (Windows, Office, NMR managing software)Valued qualities:Previous experience with NMR instruments (preferably Bruker)Previous experience in maintenance of NMR instruments (preferably Bruker)We offerA permanent full-time employment contract.Remuneration according to individual’s qualification/experienceAnnual salary split into twelve monthly payments.Incorporation: April 2026.
