The position is for teaching physics from Year 9 to A Level (Year 13) in a British school.
Colegio Hispano Británico is a small school based in Lanzarote. Although in Spain, the school follows the British curriculum and is BSO approved; so our inspections are quality assured by OFSTED. There are only around 250 BSO approved schools throughout the world and we were one of the first to receive this authorisation.
The school is very academic. Our students have been accepted by the best universities in the world including Oxford and Cambridge. For the last academic year, our students received Cambridge awards for the best Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Level results Spain. However, the school is open entry so we have students of all abilities.
This is offered at a reduced price of 500€ per month including water, electric and internet. It is a short walk from where the school bus stops which teachers can use for free to get to and from school. Therefore, once taxes, social security and rent are deducted the teacher should have around 1100€ a month to live on. The cost of living in Lanzarote is very reasonable and we can also provide a car at a reasonable rate which will allow the teacher greater mobility to enjoy the island.
In the winter the temperatures can sometimes stay in the mid 20’s during the day and in the summer the northerly trade winds keep it cooler than the south of Spain.
The position is considered part time only because of the long holidays. The school is only open for 175 days a year so there are over 3 months holiday a year. The position is permanent and you are paid the 12 months of the year.
so either an EU passport holder or someone with residence permit or visa. Strong knowledge of Physics and Physics Education
Experience in Lesson Planning and Teaching
Proficiency in Mathematics
Bachelor's degree in Physics, Education, or a related field
Previous teaching experience is a plus
The school would also pay for reasonable relocation costs.
The position is available from September but we would also consider bringing the successful candidate to see the school earlier this term if they are available.
