The Position
This field-based role spans Spain, serving as the primary point of contact for technical information regarding the Portable Delivery System (PDS) in ophthalmic surgery. This includes operating rooms and ophthalmology clinics. As a crucial member of a high-performing technical team, the SDP is responsible for comprehensive training, certification, and technical product support for investigators and clinical staff. The aim is to ensure optimal patient outcomes. By collaborating with study sites and the global cross-functional team, the SDP contributes valuable technical insights to ophthalmic surgery device development programs.
Your Key Responsibilities
Act as the main channel for ophthalmic surgical technical information to and from the clinical environment (operating room, ophthalmology clinic), both within and outside clinical trials.
Manage the preparation and execution of training for all surgical procedures involving ophthalmic medical devices/the Port Delivery Platform for surgeons, ophthalmologists, and other ophthalmic HCPs.
Provide ongoing remote and on-site support and training to surgical staff to ensure proper use of the platform.
Attend ophthalmic medical procedures (implantation, revision, explantation, refilling-exchange) in the operating room and clinic to instruct and support surgeons and clinical staff during live cases, as per local regulations and strategy.
Deliver regulatory, safety, and risk minimization activities at the affiliate level, if required.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with surgeons, therapeutic area experts, and other key healthcare professionals.
Collaborate with the Medical team to review surgical materials and communications from a scientific perspective.
Collect and share insights from the field.
Collaborate within a cross-functional team, including other SDPs and iSquad members, both locally and globally.
Who You Are
Bachelor's Degree in Scientific areas, such as Pharmacy, Biology, etc., or another Bachelor's Degree with demonstrated Medical Education.
Surgical and operating room experience, with a preference for ophthalmic operating room experience.
Experience with Class III Medical Devices is strongly preferred.
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Preferably based in Barcelona.
Excellent training and teaching abilities, with confidence, efficiency, and clarity when interacting with diverse audiences.
Willing to travel approximately 70% nationally and 1-3 times per year internationally within Europe.
Proficiency in GCP, Adverse Event Reporting, and ICH guidelines.
Strong communication, presentation, and professional skills.
Ability to build trusting relationships with healthcare providers.
Resilient, well-organized, independent, and responsible for patient well-being.
Attention to detail, with strong organizational and time management skills.
Motivated, flexible team player focused on colleagues’ success.
Adaptable to change with entrepreneurial and solution-oriented thinking.
Maintain all required certifications and hospital vendor credentials.
